Have you looked at your utility bills recently?  Chances are your energy provider is offering new green power options.  Instead of using polluting fossil fuels, you can switch over to clean electricity sourced from wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, biomass or solar.  This upgrade typically costs an extra $5-10 a month and takes just a few minutes to switch over.

What if your utility doesn’t offer clean energy? No worries. Everyone on the US grid is able to buy a REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) from a third party provider. Check out this video from the EPA to see how it works or find a green supplier here.

And an added bonus – the more consumers that switch to clean energy, the more politicians will pay attention. Just think with the power of the government, renewable-energy projects could become a priority.  Who knew an electric bill could be so exciting!?
